Job Description:

The Department of Psychology at Trinity University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Psychology (area of specialization open) beginning in Fall 2024. Qualified applicants should have a Ph.D. in Psychology (or expect to complete their Ph.D. by August 2024) and should be an effective teacher capable of delivering introductory and advanced undergraduate courses. The ability to teach statistics and research methods, health psychology, social psychology, organizational psychology, or developmental psychology is preferred.

Visiting Assistant Professor in Psychology

BACKGROUND

The Department of Psychology at Trinity University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2024. A Ph.D. in psychology or closely related discipline is required by August of 2024, and the area of specialization is open. The successful applicant will demonstrate potential to be an excellent teacher and contribute to the department's and university's curricular needs. An active research program is not required, but the department and university value faculty scholarship and would support the candidate's research on campus (e.g., with lab space and funds for conference travel).

Candidates should have experience teaching within their area of specialization. Although we are open to applicants from a variety of areas within psychology, preference will be given to applicants who have experience teaching in one of the following areas: statistics and research methods, social psychology, organizational psychology, or developmental psychology.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach 6 classes per academic year (no more than two preparations per semester) and support the academic mission of the department and university.

EDUCATION

Required:

Candidates will have a Ph.D. in Psychology or related subdiscipline (or expect to complete their Ph.D. by August, 2024).

Preferred:

The successful candidate preferably will have:

  • Interests and additional training in statistics and methods;

  • Evidence of, or potential for, teaching excellence at the undergraduate level
