Job Description

Technica LLC seeks to recruit for the position of Gunsmith III Lead on a Government contract with a place of performance at Fort Bliss, TX. This position is full-time but temporary. Anticipated period of performance ending 31 January 2025.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Supervisor in managing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of military
  • Assists overseeing the small arms shop, equipment designated, and work orders assigned.
  • Generate work order statuses and other reports using GCSS-Army.
  • Input subordinate Gunsmith's man-hours in GCSS-Army; reviews and monitors employees' man-hour utilization.
  • Organizes maintenance workflow efficiency, troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Assists enforcing safety and environmental standards in conjunction within its designated maintenance operations.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, to include technical inspections on small arms weapons.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot malfunctions and conduct repairs on various military weapons.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years' experience troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing weapons such as, but not limited to the following: the M9, M11, M117, M18 Pistol, M4, M16 Rifle, M14 EBR, M500 Shotgun, M2, M249, M240 Series Machine Gun, M203, M320, and MK19 Grenade Launcher.
  • Knowledge in completing necessary documentation such as DA Forms 2404/5988E Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet, DA Form 2407 Maintenance Request, DA Form 2407-1 Maintenance Request Continuation Sheet, DA Form 5990 and other applicable DA/DoD forms.
  • Must be familiar with the use of military Technical Manuals (TMs).
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident for more than 3 years for CAC/ NACI eligibility.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 18 years of age
  • Valid state driver's license
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience performing weapons repair and previous exposure to arms room procedures.
  • Background in military weapons to include inspection and repair.
  • Must have knowledge of gunsmith tools and procedures, as well as knowledge of firearms operating principles.
  • Attendance at a formal one/two-year accredited in-house gunsmith course, or 5+ years equivalent work experience.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, blowing sand, heavy rain, and snow and sleet.
  • Must be able to stand for a minimum two continuous hours.
  • Be able to pick up and move items within a 49-lb restriction.
  • Must be able to function with an intermediate level of English oral and written language skills.
  • Capable of using and understanding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Able to work past normal hours as mission dictates.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior military experience in Military Occupational Skill (MOS) 45B, 45K or 91F.
  • Defense contracting experience troubleshooting, inspecting and repairing military weapons.
