Job Description

Position Title:

Loan Review Assistant

Exempt Status:

Non-Exempt, Full Time Hourly

Reports to:

Senior Loan Review Officer

Summary of the Job:

Performs administrative tasks through financial functions in support of the Loan Review Officers by monitoring, analyzing and assessing the overall risk profile of the bank's loan portfolio to determine the appropriate reserves to protect the bank from losses.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs regular secretarial duties as needed, including providing telephone support, screening visitors and arranging and scheduling meetings and appointments.
  • Performs administrative tasks for supervisor and others as assigned.
  • Prepares loan review board reports monthly.
  • Route and track all Requests for Special Actions and follow up with action requested.
  • Monitor the status of past due loans identified by the Loan Review Officer.
  • Complete maintenance requests for all actions during the month and review once completed.
  • Maintain technical exception list.
  • Maintain all reviews completed in the department, and monitor for signatures.
  • Obtains additional information as needed to complete reports on sensitive reports.
  • Processes correspondence, files and performs other specific duties for management staff.
  • Complete monthly small mortgage reviews and debt-to-income ratios.
  • Complete bi-weekly FinCen report check.
  • Review daily paid and charge off reports for maintenance or follow up.
  • Track quarterly responses.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all sensitive Bank information.
  • Orders and maintains all departmental supplies.

Additional Functions:

  • Works independently, operating within division or department policy guidelines using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives.
  • Complies with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in accounting or finance, preferred. High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to two years related underwriting experience and/or training required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding details of financial statements and ability to calculate financial ratios is required. Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Outlook email system. These are the two primary programs utilized in this position.

Necessary Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record-keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments.

Physical Activity/Dexterity:

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers. Works with fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

Physical Environment Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to visit other offices, conference rooms, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and telephone.
  • Constantly positions self to operate on a computer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with other people throughout each day. Must be able to exchange accurate information when conversing.

Working Conditions/Environment:

  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Moderate noise (e.g. business office with computers and printers, light traffic).

Work Schedule/Hours:

  • Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Available for overtime as needed.
