Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

The Field Service Technician will be responsible for representing Coperion in the capacity of service providing assistance, training and advice to customers; to include providing maintenance of Coperion and Coperion K-Tron equipment at customer sites.

  • Assist customers to start-up newly installed equipment and train customer personnel as needed. Participation in classroom type training may be required.
  • When not on travel assignment, perform office assignments in the Coperion Field Service office such as writing reports, preparing field information packages for himself and other Field Service or Company personnel, answering customer phone calls, and other related tasks.
  • Work in accordance with all policies and standards.
  • Assembly or overhaul rotating equipment such as rotary valves
  • Adhere to all customer safety, drug and alcohol control regulations and procedures.
  • Ensure the satisfaction of all Coperion customers.
  • Complete all trip reports and data sheets related to assignments as detailed as possible and in a timely manner.
  • Discuss and recommend spare parts and service needs with customers.
  • Keep accurate records and transmit them to the proper groups for action.
  • Provide feedback on information received in the field on Coperion equipment and others.
  • Forward any recommendation for service and equipment improvement to Field Service management.
  • Responsibilities will include travel throughout the USA, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, and overseas, and have valid passport.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively (75%) in accordance with field service travel regulations.
  • Must be willing to adapt to flexible working hours (holidays, weekends).
  • Must be responsible, dependable, plus safety minded.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by proper authority.
  • Repair and correct equipment problems at customer sites.
  • Commissioning new equipment at customer sites.
  • Adjust and modify Coperion K-Tron equipment as required to meet the customer's process needs.
  • Provide training to customers in the use and maintenance of Coperion K-Tron equipment.
  • Document and co-ordinate the service performed and forward to Coperion K-Tron.
  • Suggest, where appropriate, improvements to Coperion K-Tron equipment.
  • Manage individual travel and expense budget based on Coperion K-Tron guidelines.
  • Assist in documenting customer needs or requests for forwarding to Coperion K-Tron.
  • Extensive travel is required - up to 75%.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Skills/Experience:

Experience with pneumatic conveying and material handling and rotating machinery assembly.

  • The ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering reports, drawings, office procedures, and instruction manuals is required.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Good customer service and communication skills.
  • The ability to use standard tools; hand tools, power tolls, test equipment.
  • The ability to write clear, concise routine correspondence as well as comprehensive documents.
  • Knowledge of word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), PowerPoint.
  • Technical, Electrical & Mechanical product knowledge.
  • Knowledge on usage of hand tools, power tools, schematics, test equipment, blue-prints,
  • Field service experience
  • Ability or experience to provide supervisory guidance and project management of a team of mechanical craft workers to perform equipment installation and equipment maintenance.
  • Preferably has worked before in industrial chemical & polymer plants
  • Working with high precision
  • Must have valid driver's license.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 years of Mechanical experience with Electrical experience/Electronic training is preferred
