Overview:

Join our dynamic team as a Senior Cost and Inventory Accountant, where you will spearhead all inventory accounting activities for our Horizon-Dharmacon and BIOO Business units located in Lafayette, Colorado. As a pivotal member, you will establish and uphold the inventory accounting principles and practices integral to the business unit's success. Your expertise will ensure robust internal controls and the meticulous preparation of inventory financial reports, empowering strategic decision-making at every turn.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, contributing to planning and budgeting initiatives to drive organizational growth and efficiency. This opportunity is hybrid, expected to work at our subsidiary in Lafayette, Colorado (Tuesday - Thursday).

Job Purpose:

The role involves comprehensive management and oversight of inventory accounting in accordance with ASC 330 for the Dharmacon Inc. and BIOO business units. Key responsibilities include maintaining local inventory ledger entries, managing product BOM standard costings, handling variance and balance reporting, and overseeing obsolescence and shelf-life management. The role ensures the accuracy and timeliness of recorded financial data and involves conducting test counts and other inventory control functions.

Additionally, the position encompasses the ownership, calculation, and initiation of supplier royalties for sales made by the Dharmacon and BIOO businesses globally. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple aspects of inventory and supplier payments efficiently.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Account for inventory under ASC 330 for two businesses located in Lafayette, Colorado.
  • Interact and work with the operations teams in Lafayette, Colorado.
  • Interact with controlling teams in the UK and Poland for posting entries.
  • For both businesses:
    • Propose month end adjustments by product line based on operations inventory stock reports.
    • Reconcile inventory and related accounts on a monthly basis.
    • Perform/manage cycle count process.
    • Maintain the LIM systems; purchasing and sale of inventory items and interaction with D365 and SAP systems.
    • Calculate and propose inventory reserve amounts.
    • Monitor movements between inventory (raw material, work in process and finished goods)
    • Review monthly costs including manufacturing expense and other costs, variances etc.
    • Perform and assess the annual standard cost updates.
    • Plan/budget labor overhead rates and other burden rates for manufacturing.
    • Coordination of monthly inventory close activities meeting required deadlines.
    • Support the development of new systems, processes and reports.
    • Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
    • Ownership, calculation and payment initiation of supplier royalties due on sales made by the Dharmacon and BIOO businesses worldwide.
  • Specific Financial Planning and Analysis ("FP&A") support for the BIOO business:
    • Participate in FP&A forecast meetings.
    • Help develop the annual operating plan ("AOP") inventory planning and execution (updating forecast each month based on actuals, etc.).
    • Prepare quarterly financial forecasts for inventory related balances.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field AND
  • Appropriate accounting qualification (CPA) AND
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive inventory cost accounting experience AND
  • 1-2 years of experience in financial planning & analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years' prior public accounting experience.
  • Previous experience of Microsoft Dynamics D365 and/or SAP.
  • Experience operating in a SOX environment.
  • Strong Excel and accounting systems skills
  • A desire to improve processes and drive efficiency.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards and regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $76,000.00 - $95,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
