As a Wildlife Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the well-being and productivity of the deer, elk, quail, fisheries, and other wildlife living on the ranch. Your primary role will involve developing and managing wildlife and fishery programs. Work is performed under general direction, with broad responsibility for planning, organizing and prioritizing work.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Planning and implementation of natural resource management, monitoring and research duties associated with wildlife and fisheries.
  • Development and implementation of deer and elk herd management and genetics program.
  • Development and implementation of quail management program, including but not limited to, quail habitat, brooding, and fly pens.
  • Development and implementation of fisheries program and bass pond management plan.
  • Development and implementation of Upland Game Wild Bird Management Program.
  • Manage and monitor the animals' health, identify signs of illness or distress, and administer appropriate medical treatments as necessary.
  • Responsible for Managed Lands Deer Program Management.
  • Responsible for nutritional development of deer, elk, dove and quail.
  • Perform daily ranch tasks, including predator control, fence repair, pen construction and maintenance, and land care.
  • Act as a guide for quail hunts.
  • Responsible for boats, docks, and fishing equipment.
  • Ensure shotguns are clean and operational.
  • Prepare and submit routine and special reports, observations, events, and other relevant data to General Manager on a weekly basis.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of animal feed and supplies.
  • Manage the culling process.
  • Manage game cameras.
  • Collaborate with other ranch staff and management to coordinate activities and achieve ranch objectives.
  • Manage budget within scope of responsibilities.
  • Adhere to sustainable ranching practices and contribute to the overall welfare of the environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal and company health and safety policies, procedures and regulations. Administer and communicate company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Supervisory duties: Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED); three to five years previous wildlife or related agricultural experience; or an equivalent combination of education experience.
  • Wildlife and Fisheries Management certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of animal care, health management, feeding and breeding practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of rifle operation and safety.
  • Knowledge of five stand operation.
  • Basic understanding of tractor/agriculture equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to identify signs of illness or distress in animals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs.
  • Valid drivers' license and clean driving record.

Required travel up to 30%.
