Job Description

The Opportunity:

    In this role, you will report to the supervisor of site services and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

    Location: Houston, TX

    Hourly Rate: $29 - $31

    Shift: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm

    What we're looking for

    • Education: High school diploma or GED is required; AA or BS degree in science is preferred and/or equivalent work experience
    • Experience: 1+ years of relevant experience in a lab environment
    • Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred
    • Fully computer literate and competent with all office applications
    • Strong process optimization skills and scientific troubleshooting skills
    • Communication skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines

    Avantor's Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

    In this role you will:

    • Maintain stock of materials, perform regular routine maintenance,and monitor overall equipment functionality.
    • Work in collaboration with applicable vendors on equipment repairs and maintain capital equipment tracking documentation.
    • Assist Local Operations Team in facilitating equipment metrics and with equipment troubleshooting, supplemental resources, and writing Work Instructions for lab equipment based on equipment manuals/documentation.
    • Classify Business Operations tickets to the Administrative Coordinator and Business Operations Lead and escalate what's needed.
    • Aid in obtaining quotes, preparing purchase orders, and following up with vendors for laboratory, office, and facilities equipment, goods, and consumables.
    • Maintain and monitor cryogenic gas and dry ice usage and support general upkeep of common shared lab areas.
    • Provide backup support as needed to the In-Site Technician to ensure shipments to Customer and its licensees are efficiently received, and processed.
    • Prepare required documentation, including licensee details and pricing as provided by the Operations Manager.
    • Coordinate training between vendors and licensees as needed and approve changes as directed by the CUSTOMER Operations Manager with other contractors to arrange for approved modifications to be completed.
    • Possibly log visitors into and out of iVisitor software, providing visitors with temporary site access badges.
    • Participate in meetings and record meeting minutes.
    • Assist with directing and accounting for persons during evacuations and with the Operations Manager in completing incident reports and monitoring corrective action plans as needed.
    • Helping in the creation of and updating of new training material.
