Job Description

The Air Combat Command's 67th Cyberspace Wing (67 CW), 346th Test Squadron (346TS)plans, executes, and contributes as both an operational and participating test organization in a full array of operational tests of various cyber weapons in coordination with the 318 Range Squadron (318RANS) who provides instrumented cyber range services, through both physical hardware and virtual systems.

In support of this mission, ANALYGENCE is seeking Senior Range Engineers to plan, prepare, and execute test systems to evaluate results against specifications and requirements as well as analyze and report test results. Specifically, the Senior Range Engineer shall:

  • Provide system administration and security services to administer, configure, operation, maintain and troubleshoot networks. Including the operation of isolated networks, networks connected to DoD networks and networks (Concept Local Area Network (CLAN)) connected to commercial ISPs.
  • Maintain all nodes of the Cyber Test and Training Ranges (CTTR), command and control applications (e.g., Orion, Altiris and Airman and others, as required).
  • Control and document the use of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. And coordinate equipment and system usage.
  • Maintain user access to range assets, add and delete user accounts, backup and restore software assets.
  • Build, maintain and restore range baseline as required.
  • Document range configuration, practices, and procedures and troubleshoot and apply fix actions.
  • Emulate current enterprise architectures as well as technological changes and provide future changes.
  • Configure, maintain and coordinate with current and future training environments including Persistent Cyber Training Environment (PCTE), SimSpace, Simulation Exercise and Training Platform (STEP), Foundry.
  • Develop courseware, curriculum and course materials for initial and continuous training for Cyber weapons and/or systems operators.
  • Maintain existing Range infrastructure and respond to technology changes during the lifetime of the contract to keep the CTTR current.
  • Install, configure and maintaining technologies, including but not limited to: Operating systems (Windows, UNIX, Linux), Network services Active Directory (AD), Domain Name Server (DNS), Web, E-mail, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), etc.
  • Create and maintain persistent environments to support exercises, training and mission rehearsals.
  • Design, install, configure and operate physical virtual and constructive networks, and combinations thereof to train and certify various cyber mission forces and command and control personnel, conducted primarily in the CTTR.
  • Prepare and deliver a Configuration Management Plan outlining the installation and configuration management practices and procedures to ensure continuity.
  • Provide Risk Management Framework and Certification and Accreditation services, including creating documents, supplying network diagrams, required artifacts and coordinating C&A package submission.
  • Comply with applicable Notice to Airman (NOTAMs), accomplish vendor security patches, implement AF Computer Emergency Response Team (AFCERT) actions and implement other security requirements as required.
  • Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of IAW AF, 67 CW and internal security policies.
  • Ensure all users have the proper security clearances, authorizations and need-to-know, and are aware of their security responsibilities before allowing access to test and range assets.
  • Plans and Programming in the form of preparation of plans, execution of plans, scheduling, standard operating procedures and preparation of support agreements, analysis of support proposals and other functions necessary in the day-to-day operations.
  • Current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 12 years of experience in a Range/Test Engineer role.
  • IAT Level III certification required.
  • Experience with Cyber Mission Systems, Air Force Weapon Systems.
  • Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.
  • Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk), laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity and privacy.
  • Experience with cybersecurity and privacy principles, cyber threats and vulnerabilities, specific operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses.
  • Knowledge of information technology (IT) supply chain security and supply chain risk management policies, requirements, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of critical infrastructure systems with information communication technology that were designed without system security considerations.
  • Knowledge of network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g., application of defense-in-depth).
  • Knowledge of security architecture concepts and enterprise architecture reference models (e.g., Zachman, Federal Enterprise Architecture [FEA]).
  • Knowledge of security models (e.g., Bell-LaPadula model, Biba integrity model, Clark-Wilson integrity model).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity-enabled software products.
  • Knowledge of Test & Evaluation processes for learners and information compromise.
  • Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, Dynamic Host Configuration, Domain Name System (DNS), and directory services.
  • Experience conducting test events, designing a data analysis structure (i.e., the types of data a test must generate and how to analyze that data), determining an appropriate level of test rigor for a given system, developing operations-based testing scenarios, systems integration testing.
  • Experience writing code in a currently supported programming language (e.g., Java, C++), writing test plans, evaluating test plans for applicability and completeness, conducting Test Readiness Reviews, designing and documenting overall program Test & Evaluation strategies, identifying Test & Evaluation infrastructure (people, ranges, tools, instrumentation) requirements.
  • Skill in managing test assets, test resources, and test personnel to ensure effective completion of test events, preparing Test & Evaluation reports and providing Test & Evaluation resource estimate.
  • Ability to apply cybersecurity and privacy principles to organizational requirements (relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation).
