Job Description

Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. We are constantly optimizing our supply network to provide high reliability and energy efficiencies allowing Air Liquide to adjust supply needs more quickly and effectively enabling growth to our customers.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The LI NAM organization is undergoing a period of significant investment in its assets and infrastructure, which includes growth, efficiency, risk, safety, and procedure compliance projects and programs. With these investments comes a need for centralized project and program coordination and resource management to ensure the completion of the intended objectives, as well as to maintain consistency and alignment throughout the ALLIUS organization. The ALLIUS Plant Projects Director is responsible for managing these resources to ensure successful execution and alignment with the underlying strategic drivers.

The successful candidate must have a track record of collaborating well with other teams and individuals to ensure success of each project. The successful candidate must be a solution oriented person who will drive issues and projects to completion in a collaborative, constructive and effective manner, and deliver expected financial results.

The Air Liquide Large Industries Plant Projects Director is responsible for managing the Plant Projects group, overseeing resources for successful execution of capital programs and projects up to $30 million capital value. The successful candidate will provide vision, leadership and direction to ensure that high quality support is provided and that performance targets are met.

  • Works to achieve Zero Accidents by taking a leadership role in safety

  • Models exemplary safety behavior, leads by personal example, sets high standards for peers and team

  • Understands and drives the implementation of initiatives aimed to improve Operational Excellence in collaboration with Industrial Direction, Operations and Maintenance

  • Collaborates with the Zone Engineering Managers as well as E&C to evaluate resource loading and agree on project assignments between these groups.

  • Manages a team of 13 employees including program and project managers, project engineers, ALLEX, Interns, Document Control / QA / QC and admin.

  • Sets yearly Goals & Objectives for department and direct reports.

  • Creates a multi-year strategic plan for the department and establishes KPIs to monitor success.

  • GP_11 Process Owner for LINAM. Ensures projects are completed in compliance with Group and LINAM procedures and policies.

  • Ensures Design Review process is followed on all projects.

  • Coordinates project prioritization and funding with LI management.

  • Supports and facilitates the development of the annual LI NAM Industrial Direction National Programs plan.

  • Manages department budget.

  • Maintains and updates Department Procedures

  • Coordinates internal resource requirements to support projects including CTE, E&C, etc.

  • Meetings monthly with E&C / CI business development to coordinate large projects infrastructure support.

  • Works with LI Business Development team to provide support for key proposal development.

  • Supports / completes proposal development and projects if required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)

  • 15 years overall experience in engineering design, operations support, project engineering and project management preferred

  • Minimum 10 years project management experience preferred

  • 5+ years in direct report supervision preferred

  • 5+ years experience in capital project management preferred

  • 3+ years experience in Project Controls

  • Project Management Certification (PMP) a plus

  • 2+ years experience in industrial gases plant operations (ASU, SMR, Cogen) preferred

  • Demonstrated aptitude for strategic thinking

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate across stakeholders and drive meaningful resolution when stakeholders have divergent opinions.

  • Solution oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Advanced skills with Google suite of tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, etc)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

  • Up to 30% domestic travel

  • Able to work around process equipment, including traversing ladders and stairs

  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment
