HOYA Dallas Rx Laboratory

Reports to: Rx Lab General Manager (LGM)

SUMMARY

Will manage the supervisors and production employees and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Rx Lab Production. Execute all management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Adhere to all operation and safety SOP's. Verifies that all equipment is maintained properly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assigns duties, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Delegates to the maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Makes sure Preventive Maintenance is performed as scheduled and doesn't allow equipment to be kept in poor condition.
  • Randomly inspects work in progress and finished products to ensure conformance to quality standards.
  • Communicate company policies, train employees, and enforce safety regulations.
  • Helps maintain and review measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Analyzes and resolves work-related problems or assists employees in solving work-related problems.
  • Communicates operating procedures, trains employees, and enforces procedures.
  • Assists in developing or revising standard operational and working procedures and observes workers to ensure compliance with procedures.
  • Reviews and analyzes DVI reports, Audits, spoilage, and key indicator reports to determine the cause of quality or production issues.
  • Plans and directs the employee training required to stay abreast of new product introductions.
  • Works in all areas of the laboratory as needed to meet production requirements.
  • Monitors and controls all lab costs.
  • Other duties may be assigned as determined by the Rx Lab LGM.
  • Makes sure all areas of the lab and equipment are maintained clean and in good condition.
  • Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time.
  • Reports the daily production

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred; however, a combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

Experience

  • 5 to 7 years' experience in the Optical Industry related to ophthalmic lenses is desired.
  • 3 to 5 years managing employees in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to speak and understand Spanish is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Candidates must have a proven background in ophthalmic optics, accompanied by excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Supervisory-level experience required.
  • Management-level experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking skills in anticipating challenges, problem-solving, and seeking resources.
  • Able and willing to work as a team.
  • Must be able to work overtime, Saturdays and Sundays, and on some holidays when needed.
  • Able to read and write English Language well.
  • Able to memorize large amounts of data accurately.
  • Computer skills (Windows, MS Office)
  • Experience or knowledge working with automated equipment.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Work without constant supervision.
  • Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time.

Safety Requirements

  • Basic understanding of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program and the Hazard Communication Program
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required.
  • Must use proper ergonomics when lifting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Must wear safety glasses and long-sleeved shirts. Wear protective gear as required.
