Vital Energy is looking for a Drilling Supervisor to join our innovative team. The Drilling Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing drilling operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance with regulations and company policies. You will lead a team of drilling personnel, coordinate with various departments, and manage resources to achieve project objectives within budget and time constraints.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise Drilling Operations: Represent Vital Energy in a supervisory position on location during drilling operations, ensuring the approved drilling procedure is executed in a safe and efficient manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations, conducting regular safety meetings, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Resource Management: Manage personnel, equipment, and materials to optimize drilling efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor drilling performance, analyze data, and implement improvements to enhance drilling efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Budget Management: Monitor expenditures, control costs, and provide input for budget planning to ensure projects remain within financial targets.
  • Contractor Management: Coordinate with drilling contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with contract terms and specifications.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to maintain drilling standards and ensure well integrity.
  • Reporting: Prepare daily reports, progress updates, and other documentation as required by company policies and regulatory authorities.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve operational issues, troubleshoot equipment failures, and implement preventive measures to minimize downtime.
  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure drilling operations comply with environmental regulations and minimize environmental impact through proper waste management and pollution prevention measures.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in drilling operations including 3 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in drilling software and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Valid drilling certifications and licenses as required by regulatory authorities.
  • Aptitude to learn and advance in specialized discipline
  • Must meet and maintain eligibility requirements to drive a company vehicle.
  • Candidate must be dependable and able to work overtime when necessary.
  • Candidate must have good interpersonal skills and can work in a team environment.

COMPENSATION:

Salary is commensurate with experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is normally performed outdoors where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases is common. Noise level is moderate to loud and includes sounds of construction, equipment operations, trucks and like equipment. Job hazards include working in normal light and heavy construction activities and working around pressured propane, water, electricity, and waste lines under all weather conditions. May work in areas where H2S is present. Must be available to be On-Call. Overtime is sometimes required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level. Work may require frequent pushing, pulling, or carrying 50 to 75 pound objects such as tools, equipment work operations. Work involves standing and walking most of the time, but will also involve sitting and driving for extended periods sometimes over rough terrain.
