Job Description

Job Title: Technician Senior Reservoir

Department: Reservoir

Summary: The Senior Reservoir Technician role will support management, analysis, maintenance, auditing, and coordination of technical data and related tasks for Diamondback's reservoir engineering team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Include but are not limited to:

  • Work with other data management personnel in a multi-disciplinary environment to assure smooth flow of information across company personnel.
  • Support data mining and data analysis for reservoir engineering teams.
  • Build, maintain and update reserves and budget databases in Aries, Spotfire, Access, and SQL.
  • Gather, organize, analyze, and report production, technical and economic data from internal and external sources.
  • Assist in economic forecasting, economic evaluation, and track and monitor operated and non-operated capital projects.
  • Analyze and load LOE data from lease operating statements and incorporate into economic models.
  • Analyze and load marketing and pricing information, including basis differentials, pertinent contract data and plant statements into economic models for analysis.
  • Collaborate with reservoir engineering staff in the development and support of best practice workflows and data management.
  • Software updates, management, and organization of reservoir engineering data under direction from reservoir engineering staff.
  • Audit departmental workflow processes to ensure data quality and fidelity.
  • Drive data quality management within the reservoir engineering group by actively monitoring and QA/QC relevant data.
  • Able to write scripts for data manipulation and other tasks in a common programing language such as VBA, SQL, Python, etc.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends in the space of engineering data management.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of seven (7+) years of experience in engineering, or related oil and gas discipline, technician role or higher
  • Minimum of seven (7+) years of demonstrable experience working with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency with technical software and data applications pertaining to the specific job responsibilities (e.g., Aries, Spotfire, Access, and SQL).
  • Advanced knowledge, understanding, and judgment of data standards, data flows, technical requirements, and direction relating to other technical disciplines (Drilling, Completions, Geoscience, Production, etc.)
  • Application of systems analysis techniques, procedures, testing, modification, and administration in the petroleum industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field
  • Prior experience as a senior reservoir engineering technician on detailed relevant projects.
  • Experience creating or building databases using Aries, Spotfire, Enersight, and Whitson software.
