Overview

Collin Springs is a new 72-bed behavioral hospital located near McKinney, TX, scheduled to open in late March 2024. The hospital provides a full continuum of care for those suffering from a mental health issue and/or chemical dependency. This includes inpatient treatment, partial day programming and intensive outpatient services. Assessment services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Position Details

  • Support the organization, program and unit philosophy of care
  • Coordinate and deliver quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients
  • Ensure medical Orders are followed, initiate and follow treatment planning
  • Act as a patient advocate at all times
  • The schedule would be 60% RN and 40% Educator with two 12-hour shifts as RN and two 8-hour shifts as Educator
  • Understands patient treatment plans and coaches' staff regarding patient response to treatment interventions.
  • Trains staff on Springstone specific policies, forms, and processes.
  • Provides staff with hands-on initial and ongoing clinical education
  • May serve as a preceptor for new nurse and PCA hires
  • Trains staff on all department policies and procedures including but not limited to: patient safety processes including, close observation rounds, clinical precautions, safety rounding, proper documentation, any other patient safety interventions.
  • Maintains CPI Instructor certification and trains staff on appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as required and according to policy and procedure.
  • Maintains CPR Instructor certification and conducts regular classes for staff certification.
  • Displays a thorough knowledge of confidentiality. Demonstrates knowledge of HIPAA regulations and abides by those standards.
  • Provide training to new employees and review performance and progress in a timely manner based on the policy of the hospital. Collaborate with HR and DON to maintain accurate records of all staff certification requirements.
  • Attends supervisory meetings, in-services and other meetings as scheduled. Maintains current training and knowledge in all fire and disaster procedures.
  • Develops and conduct education needs assessment and associated training for all staff that is informational and pertinent to the needs of the hospital.
  • Conducts annual staff and as needed periodic training with staff members. Monitors completion of assigned education and training.
  • Works with all department heads to improve hospital performance through staff education and training.
  • Responsible for thorough onboarding of all new employees.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing training
  • Current unencumbered license to practice by the State Board of Nursing
  • CPR Certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact

Preferred Experience:

Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred. Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.
