Our Commodity Research team comprises analysts based in London, Houston, Singapore, Beijing, Gdynia, Tokyo, Lund, and Sao Paulo.

To meet this demand, we are expanding our team in bothOsloandHouston.

Position Overview:The primary focus will be on improving and developing products forUS ISO markets(including PJM, ERCOT, NYISO, ISONE, CAISO, MISO, and SPP) and will work very closely with existing US-based Research teams in Carbon and Natural Gas, as well as our Oslo-based Power Research team. The successful candidate will be expected to lead on such development plans . This involves writing reports, guiding quantitative modeling, and forecasting prices based on factors such as demand, renewable generation, dispatchable generation, and transmission constraints, as well as structural market changes. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and quantitative skills, pay meticulous attention to detail, communicate effectively, and work independently.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Improve and develop productsfor US ISO markets including reports and quantitative modeling.
  • Write analysesto support traders and market participants.
  • Analyze supply and demandas well as other fundamental price drivers in the US power markets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Previous roles as a trader, analyst, or in related positions within the US ISO markets.
  • Deep Knowledge: A thorough understanding of the US power markets, relevant market data and the underlying fundamental drivers. Understanding of policy/regulatory dynamics driven by ISO/RTO, PUC, and federal agencies.
  • Education: A higher education degree (MSc or PhD level) in fields such as economics, engineering, mathematics, computer science, statistics, applied physics, meteorology, or equivalent.
  • Data Proficiency: Strong skills in data analysis and predictive modeling.
  • Statistical Background: Proficiency in statistics and machine learning techniques, particularly when applied to meteorological data.
  • Data Visualization: Effective data visualization skills for time series and geospatial data.
  • Communication: Good communication skills for collaborative work across interdisciplinary teams.

Compensation/Benefits Information:

LSEG is committed to offering competitive Compensation and Benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $133,000.00 - $247,000.00.

Please be aware base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, city and state. In addition to our offered base salary, this role is eligible for our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP/"bonus plan"). Target AIP rates will be commensurate with role level and posted career stage. Individual salary will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and equivalent experience. LSEG roles (excluding internships and part-time roles of less than 20 hours per week) are typically eligible for inclusion in our LSEG Benefits program, which includes offerings of: Annual Wellness Allowance, Paid time-off, Medical, Dental, Vision, Flex Spending & Health Savings Options, Prescription Drug plan, 401(K) Savings Plan and Company match.
