The Health Analytics Consultant (HAC) provides consistent, effective, high-quality analytic and consultative support to self-funded and fully insured employer groups in local markets throughout Texas and the West Region. The HAC plays a central role within a diverse cross-organizational team focused on account retention and customer satisfaction, positioning UnitedHealthcare as a trusted advisor to both plan sponsors and the broker/consultant community.

Critical to this position is the ability to derive key insights from health plan utilization data and population health metrics - and to pair those insights with recommended solutions that drive health plan affordability, motivate health ownership, and leverage all aspects of UnitedHealthcare's clinical and financial value story.

This position sits organizationally within Customer Analysis & Solutions (CAS) and is managed by the CAS Regional Director.

If you are located in Dallas, Fort Worth, or Houston, Texas, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing and interpreting various forms of health plan cost and utilization data to identify potential areas for lowering financial trends, improving population health and employee productivity, and elevating health care consumerism
  • Delivering "Annual Healthplan Performance Reviews" and participating in other customer meetings as a subject matter expert to present analytic findings and recommendations
  • Creating a clear and compelling assessment of the root causes of medical trend, identifying actionable intelligence, supporting the business case for various solutions, and quantifying the value generated by historically implemented solutions
  • Participating on teams to innovate new approaches to visualizing data that is both inspiring and comprehensible
  • Negotiating complex situations and sensitive situations with a win-win attitude and communicating information and recommendations in an articulate and professional manner
  • Advising both internal and external constituents on healthcare cost and quality topics, and over time developing a strong working knowledge of UnitedHealth Group's product portfolio

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (i.e. Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Marketing / Communications, Public Health, Biology, Psychology)
  • 3+ years of experience within healthcare or related field
  • Experience with data analysis, interpretation, synthesis and presentation to customers
  • Working knowledge of plan designs, healthcare consumerism, population health management strategies, and emerging industry trends
  • Solid computer skills particularly in Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Travel:

  • Travel required 25% of the time to go to customer sites, may be up to 50% during peak delivery season (April-June).
