This position is responsible for the underwriting duties associated with First United Bank mortgage loans in accordance with all bank, investor, and regulatory requirements.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Actively cooperates and interacts with all entities of First United Bank.
Performs credit and property analysis on conventional and government (FHA, VA, Section 184, and USDA) loan files submitted within the time frame established by departmental management.
Adequately and effectively explains in written and verbal form the decision reached in a manner that will maintain a positive relationship with all customers.
Performs timely reviews as set per management of new file submissions and conditions submitted, as well as loan resubmissions.
Analyzes challenging loan packages to render sound credit solutions per First United Bank guidelines.
Provides exemplary customer service to both internal staff and external customers by explaining credit decisions and offering alternative options when needed to internal staff.
Maintain quality and production standards as defined by First United Bank business management.
Performs timely reviews of conditions submitted, as well as loan resubmissions.
Processes agency/investor exception requests as needed.
Reviews mail and email, and responds to voice mail in a timely manner.
Uses conversation log or memo sections in the current loan entry program each time a file is accessed or handled to accurately note progress of file.
Offers loan options to sales team.
Attends mortgage department underwriting meetings as required by management.
Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.
