Fugro Geophysical service line provides geophysical surveys that maps out the ocean floor and underneath to provide geophysical data, utilizing sonar technologies to do. The geophysical surveys involve a series of techniques and algorithms applied to raw survey data to extract meaningful information about subsurface features. It includes steps such as data quality control, noise removal, filtering, and data enhancement. These processes aim to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio, improve resolution, and create interpretable images or models of the subsurface.

The Hydrographic Data Processor will be predominately responsible for hydrographic data processing, as well as producing deliverables for internal stakeholders and client use. With a focus on the generation of client deliverables, you will work as part of the Marine Site Characterization Client Deliverables team in our shift work within our state-of-the art Remote Operations Centre. While working in the Lafayette COE, you will be working closely with the team of Geophysicists, CAD /GIS Specialists, Project Surveyors and Project Managers to undertake processing, reporting, and charting of acquired survey data sets to ensure production of quality deliverables.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
  • Monitor acquired data quality on survey vessels, liaise with and assist Party Chief and other survey staff, maintains vessel processing logs.
  • Good understanding of survey and processing principles.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Good understanding of survey and processing principles.
  • An excellent communicator (verbally and written) and able to form good working relationships. with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Processing of survey data such as navigation, multibeam echo sounder,and,Sidescan Sonar data acquired from Vessel, or AUV survey platforms.
  • Ensuring processed data is suitable for charting, reporting and complies with the scope of work.
  • Generating of survey data products compatible with GIS software.
  • Constructing survey charts compliant with charting standards.

Job Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.
  • Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel.
  • Possess a BSC or MSC in hydrography, geomatics, geospatial sciences, GIS, mapping sciences, oceanography, or survey -related fields.
  • Have experience with a technical background of working with hydrographic/bathymetric and Sidescan sonar data with associated processing software.
  • Have 2 or more years of experience in processing conventional and AUV data sets.
  • Center of Excellence roles require candidates to be Lafayette -based or willing to relocate.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Thorough understanding of computer systems, hardware, and software.
  • Good understanding of survey and processing principles.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet project deadlines.
  • An excellent communicator (verbally and written) and able to form good working relationships. with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Center of Excellence roles require candidates to be Lafayette-based or willing to relocate.
  • Knowledge of hydrographic processing software is desired.
  • An understanding of Python scripting language is desired.
