Fugro Marine Geotechnics service line provides marine geotechnical services to determine and manage the ground risk associated with marine project development. Using technical expertise, advanced exploration tools, field and laboratory testing, computer simulations and quantitative methods, we identify, evaluate, and resolve your geotechnical design challenges.

The Lead Hydraulic Technician - Marine is responsible for oversight of installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of hydraulically operated equipment onboard Fugro or chartered 3rd party vessels. This includes directing the activities of the rig mechanics and ETO's tasked with the daily maintenance and troubleshooting of this equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health and safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
  • Establishes maintenance objectives and priorities for hydraulic and hydraulic control systems, consulting with project, drilling, technical, and vessel management, and others involved in project activities.
  • Leads troubleshooting and repair activities related to hydraulic systems.
  • Establishes training objectives for the personnel involved in the maintenance, operation, and installation of hydraulic systems.
  • Establishes minimum and maximum stock levels for hydraulic systems spares.
  • Works with procurement as the technical lead for hydraulic component procurement.
  • Visits operating vessels at least 4 times annually to ensure that hydraulic maintenance and stores are being maintained as per company requirements.
  • Leads the installation or repair of hydraulic systems onboard vessels as required.
  • Regularly reports activities and time/cost requirements for maintenance and repair tasks to management.
  • Responsible for administering change management when equipment modifications are necessary.
  • Maintains operating standards daily to ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assures that no incident or near miss goes unreported, including assuring investigation, accurate determination of root causes and consequent preventive and corrective actions are taken.

Job Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.
  • Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Possess an Associates degree in science or technology related field preferred.
  • Have 5 years of more experience in manufacturing, installing, commissioning and maintaining hydraulic systems; preferably in a marine related setting.
  • Knowledge of programable logic control functionality for hydraulic systems is required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge 2D CAD software, specifically related to the modification and interpretation of hydraulic and electrical control schematics.
  • Knowledge of computers with exposure to the MS Office suite and Tero Marine Master V2 or comparable software.
  • Certified Fluid Power Accredited Instructor (CFPAI) preferred.
