Description

The Pipeline Operator is responsible for maintaining all Vital Energy Midstream Services pipelines and infrastructure, for managing chemical treatment of pipelines and facilities, for servicing and maintaining water transfer pumps and seals, and for collecting and reporting data on existing infrastructure systems. They will also commonly work with other groups within the Vital Energy to assist with different measurement systems, compression facilities, and pipeline construction.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under supervision, responsibilities will include but not limited to the following essential functions:

  • Maintain and operate Vital Energy pipelines by:
  • Pigging oil, water, and gas lines and reporting and tracking material condition of existing pipelines.
  • Observe and monitor chemical treatment of pipelines and make recommendations regarding treatment and corrosion.
  • Replace or rebuild seals and impellers on various types of pumps.
  • Rebuild gas operated valves and mechanical dumps on equipment.
  • Assisting oil measurement by witnessing LACT proving and working on oil meters.
  • Take samples of oil and water and occasionally run various types of analysis on different product samples using Vital equipment.
  • Assist other Vital Energy Midstream technical groups by:
  • Assisting construction projects by assisting with staking or line locate and crew supervision.
  • Collaborate with peers to identify and remedy problems and complete projects within defined requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

The following education, knowledge and skills are representative of the high level of demonstrated skills, maturity, judgment, and ability to work with a wide range of constituencies required of Vital Energy employees.

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 years of oilfield experience, prior pipeline experience a plus.
  • College experience or previous work in a technical field may be counted towards some of the experience required.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Vitals systems, working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is normally performed outdoors where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases is common. Noise level is moderate to loud and includes sounds of construction, equipment operations, and trucks and like equipment. Job hazards include working in normal light and heavy construction activities and working around pressured propane, water, electricity, and waste lines and under all weather conditions. May work in areas where H2S is present. Overtime is sometimes required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level. Work may require frequent pushing, pulling, or carrying 50 to 75 pound objects such as tools, equipment work operations. Work involves standing and walking most of the time, but will also involve sitting and driving for extended periods sometimes over rough terrain. Must be able to fit test and perform duties wearing SCBA and WBA.
