What The Role Is

As key member of a team of investment and project development professionals dedicated to pursuing Clearway's vision of a world powered by clean energy, the Senior Analyst will have responsibility for supporting commercial analysis and strategy, leveraging existing resources to develop world-class clean fuels projects (i.e. renewable hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, methane and aviation fuel), that target both US and international markets.

The Senior Analyst will also play a crucial role in supporting the valuation, due diligence, and execution of project acquisition opportunities.

Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across the organization will be essential for success.

This position is based in Houston, Texas.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Actively support origination, development, structuring, and closing of high-quality, profitable clean fuels businesses:
    • Conduct analysis and provide insight into policies driving demand, potential off-takers, partners, supply sources and competitive landscape.
    • Develop statistical models to quantify risk in highly structured transactions.
    • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to support formulation of go-to-market strategies, recommendations on best paths forward, and identify potential impediments to negotiations and closings.
    • Work with functional groups, third party consultants, and various other stakeholders to drive projects forward and perform quantitative analyses, production cost models, analytical tools, and business cases for early investments in emerging growth segments, supporting development and financing decisions.
  • Own the project financial model, working with Capital Markets, Engineering, and Development teams to ensure conformance with underwriting guidelines, investment metrics and forecasted cash flows. Run sensitivity analyses and generate ideas to optimize valuation.
  • Coordinate with functional teams on due diligence and financial model inputs to qualify project investments in feasibility, Pre-FEED, FEED, FID stages, as well as in the process of executing acquisition documents.
  • Prepare detailed memos and presentations for senior management and investment committee.
  • Support and be actively involved in due diligence, underwriting and execution of transactions.
  • Create and manage tools to monitor market activity and track internal origination strategy to identify new growth areas and M&A targets.
  • Develop additional functionality for new and innovative financial structures (in excel and VBA) and improve existing quantitative analyses and tools.
  • Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity with respect to all functions of DEI.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree with a strong academic record from a leading undergraduate program in finance, business administration, economics, engineering, or computer science.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in a finance or a development role with specific focus on financial modeling.
  • Fundamental knowledge in energy, cleantech, power markets, infrastructure or finance, with prior internship (or similar) experience in these fields.
  • Experience navigating discounted cash flow models is required.
  • A driven self-starter with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong aptitude for analytical and financial modeling with demonstrated attention to detail. Advanced capabilities in Excel and PowerPoint are essential.
  • Excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills. Ability to summarize complex issues and identify opportunities or next steps is critical.
  • Robust organizational skills with a mindset towards pursuing simple and efficient solutions.
  • Ability to manage simultaneous projects/work streams, set priorities, and exercise independent judgment.
  • Interest in developing leadership skills and desire to grow personally and professionally within our organization.

What Would Be Nice
  • Master's Degree, CFA, or other ongoing education a plus.
  • Relevant work experience in the power market experience a plus.
  • Experience with VBA or other programming languages is a bonus.

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.

Salary Range Across all U.S. Locations
$75,000$109,000 USD
