Job Description

Are you interested in a career exploring solutions to a rapidly expanding power grid? Join LCRA's Transmission Planning team as a Transmission Planning Engineer and play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the transmission system.

As an Electrical Engineer with expertise in power systems, you will collaborate with our team to conduct detailed engineering studies using state-of-the-art analysis tools. These studies will help identify upgrades and improvements to the LCRA TSC transmission system, enabling us to support the expanding power grid effectively. You will also contribute to the development and maintenance of steady-state network planning models and conduct near-term and long-term planning studies to explore various system enhancements.

Finally, we are heavily involved with industry changing efforts through involvement in ERCOT, NERC, and NATF working groups. These working groups cover many topics including steady-state voltage performance, thermal loading of transmission elements, generation deliverability to load centers, and other emerging transmission system technologies. We also act subject matter experts for NERC Reliability Standards including TPL-001, FAC-002, CIP-014, and MOD-032/033.

You will be trusted to:

The ideal candidate will be familiar with the following:
* Power flow analysis
* Contingency analysis
* Siemens PSSE
* Power system modeling
* Optimal power flow
* UPlan economic analysis
* Power system protection
* NERC Reliability Standards
* Python

You qualify with:

Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas

Driver's license

You are a great fit with:

Experience conducting powerflow contingency analysis using PSSE, developing task automations using Python, and an understanding of ERCOT processes and NERC Reliability Standards.

Open to hiring either Engineering Associate III, Engineer, or Sr. Engineer.
