Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is currently seeking a VDC Manager to join our team in Austin, TX! The VDC Manager is responsible for assisting the Estimating, BIM/VDC, Preconstruction and Operations teams in the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) methodologies. The VDC Manager proactively drives and leads the implementation of BIM/VDC technologies on large-scale construction projects during the pre-construction and estimating phase as well as supports field operations for trade coordination as needed. The VDC Manager must have solid and demonstrated working knowledge in construction methods and practices, process flow and business aspects of construction, as well as BIM/VDC concepts. The position requires a self-motivated individual that intuitively recognizes constraints and opportunities and can adaptively implement Building Information Modeling on construction projects. The VDC Manager reports to the Regional VDC Manager and is a vital member of the Preconstruction staff.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Provide Estimating, BIM & Preconstruction support as needed throughout Preconstruction process
Understanding of Bartlett Cocke’s business processes and software systems implementation
Promoting and understanding of Bartlett Cocke’s VDC processes and technology implementation
Assist with production of estimates, quantity takeoff, bid documents and proposals
Engage Bartlett Cocke project teams, designers and subcontractors in the BIM & Preconstruction processes
Provide model management throughout the BIM/MEP coordination process
Assemble 3D content modeled by others and model any content not provided
Manage conflict/issue resolution throughout the BIM coordination process
Provide model management for 4D scheduling effort(s)
Provide VDC software setup and support for project teams during precon and operations
Report status on outstanding issues and projects progress to Regional BIM Manager and project team.
Provide layout integration support to operations for self-perform layout
Manage model changes through updates and design changes
Assist Regional VDC Manager and Marketing with related material for presentations
Respond to software issues by providing or facilitating either software code changes or solution recommendations
Analyze models utilizing Navisworks for clash detection and to identify other potential issues
Assist Regional VDC Manager and project teams to develop BIM strategy and project-specific scope
Provide models and/or documents necessary to complete scope as determined with Regional VDC Manager
Provide assistance to AE design team to facilitate BIM/MEP coordination and constructability reviews
Assist in the creation and management of virtual mock-up exercises for quality assurance and quality control studies
Minimum Qualifications:
Three (3+) years of construction management or AEC design/architectural experience required.
Two (2+) years of VDC/BIM experience required.
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Architecture or Design required.
Comfortable with using computers, the Internet, file sharing and collaboration platforms required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with the following estimating software preferred, but not required: BuildingConnected, On-Center, Timberline, & MS Office.
Knowledge of and experience with CAD and Building Information Model (BIM) systems (AutoCAD, Autodesk Architectural Desktop, AutoDesk Building Systems, Tekla, Graphisoft Constructor, Google Sketchup preferred.
Knowledge of the following fields is a plus: MEP Coordination process, scheduling, facility management, programming and databases.
Previous project experience in K-12, Higher Education, Institutional, Healthcare and Multifamily preferred.
The following licenses/certifications are preferred: LEED AP, Engineer in Training (EIT), LEED Green Associate, or CM-BIM.
