Overview

The Sr. Distribution Manager is responsible for transforming a traditional warehouse into a world-class facility in operational execution, culture, safety, and quality. As the Sr. Distribution Manager, your focus is on safety, continuous improvement, relationship building, communication, and strategic thinking. In this position, your responsibility includes the development of a "safety first" culture by creating awareness, developing training, and enforcing accountability.
The Sr. Distribution Manager is responsible for the overall financial, operational, and employee aspects of both Distribution Centers located in Socorro, TX. Building 1 represents our largest DC at 621K sq ft with approximately 150 associates and Building 2 represents our 2nd largest DC at 235k sq ft with approximately 20 associates.

Responsibilities

Leadership Responsibilities

    Developing direct and indirect reports -- .... Goal setting, skills assessment, IDPs, career development, performance evaluation, on-going employee feedback. disciplinary actions
  • Partnering with on-site HR Manager to lead the development of managers, supervisors, and shop floor leads/clerks.
  • Ensuring the execution and compliance to company policies...safety, OSHA, absenteeism, ...
  • Provide on-going employee feedback & quarterly review and documentation
  • Improve employee retention and engagement at all levels of the organization
  • Partner with direct leader and Finance leader to establish facility financial plan along with ideas for productivity initiatives to reduce overall operational cost.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR Manager to maintain staffing levels to ensure the organization meets the targeted level of service at the lowest cost and a reasonable level of overtime.
  • Day-to-Day leadership of all facets of the facility
    • Manage facility's KPI tracking and improvement
    • Manage Inbound and Outbound flow
    • Flex teams across functional areas
  • Drive the five initiatives to a world-class level
    • Safety Program - audits, housekeeping, 5S
    • Outbound Quality
    • Inbound Quality
    • Inventory Management
    • Labor Management Program (LMS)
  • Work with customers and the corporate team to resolve problems and improve customer satisfaction
  • Perform other duties as assigned by direct leader

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors, and executive leadership team.)
  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills
  • Detailed oriented with excellent follow-up practices
  • Bachelor's degree preferred - engineering, logistics, supply chain, manufacturing/production, or business
  • Ten (10) years or more in logistics, warehouse, manufacturing, or industry related field
  • Five (5) years plus managerial/supervisory experience managing/leading direct reports
  • Demonstrated experience in developing plans and their implementation
  • Experience in developing solutions and project management skills a plus
  • Bilingual preferred

Work Environment

This position works in a warehouse setting with exposure to the various conditions, including cold, heat and humidity. This role routinely may also work in a clerical office setting using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, scanners and fax machines.

Travel

Travel is required less than 10% of the time. May require infrequent international travel.
